Munich, 22 August 2024 - Last weekend, O2 SURFTOWN MUC celebrated the opening of Germany's first surf park with over 14,753 surf enthusiasts from all over the world. However, the opening not only marked the start of a new chapter in surfing, but also the introduction of a technology that is revolutionising the sport of surfing: artificial intelligence (AI).
A major challenge for many: capturing the perfect moments on video or photo while surfing. O2 SURFTOWN MUC is now solving this problem together with Flowstate with an innovative AI solution. The technology films and photographs every wave automatically and requires no additional equipment or manual intervention. ‘Our guests can concentrate fully on surfing while our AI system records and analyses every wave surfed and provides professionally edited videos and photos around 15 minutes after the session,’ explains Chris Boehm-Tettelbach, founder and Managing Director of O2 SURFTOWN MUC. ‘This means that surfers and those who simply want to test waves can now easily record their experiences and share them with friends and family - without any effort.’
But the new platform offers even more. It acts as a social network for surfers, where they can share their experiences, compare their performances and network with other surfers worldwide. The platform can be used to analyse waves, leave comments and follow other surfers. The best moments can be exported in various formats, shared on social media or saved in playlists for future training.
