From April 6 to 10, 2025, O2 SURFTOWN MUC became the center of international surf progression. At the Red Bull Air Awareness Camp, some of the world's most talented surfers came together to specifically work on their aerials—regardless of wind, swell, or tide—on perfectly customizable waves.
Among the participants: Olympic gold medalist Kauli Vaast (France), skate and surf phenom Sky Brown (UK), big wave chargers like Lucas Chumbo (Brazil) and Laura Coviella (Spain), and Europe’s top surfer Teresa Bonvalot (Portugal). Local hero and Olympic surfer Leon Glatzer also joined the camp, alongside rising international stars such as Jarvis Earle, Sanoa Olin, Ben Larg, Locana Cullen, Arthur Vilar, and Annette Etxabarri—all taking the opportunity to refine their technique under professional conditions.
Training was held on tailor-made waves with one or two dedicated air sections, powered by 34 individually controlled blowers from Endless Surf technology - **a one-of-a-kind setup worldwide, enabling targeted aerial practice.
"Progression was the word of the week!" said Kauli Vaast. "I learnt a lot and improved a lot on my airs! The cold was a challenge at times being from Tahiti but so stoked Red Bull made this happen. Can’t wait to come again! Thank you everyone for everything and Maururu roa!" (Tahitian expression of gratitude, similar to "Thank you very much")
Each day followed a clear structure: surf sessions in the morning, lunch at the Lookout Restaurant, warm-ups in the hot tub, and daily content production sessions.
Leon Glatzer praised the camp’s environment: "The Red Bull air camp at O2 SURFTOWN MUC was incredible. The wave allowed us to explore and experiment with different sections, pushing our creativity and progression. Experiences like this, with a world-class pool and focused air camps, are what accelerate our evolution as surfers. In just one week, I learned so much and felt like I reached an entirely new level."
Surf icons such as Miky Picon and Sean Hayes were also on-site, supporting the camp with their experience, vision, and a true feel for progression.
Europe’s brightest hope for a World Championship Tour spot, Teresa Bonvalot, was equally enthusiastic: "Best air training camp ever with the best ramps. Amazing when you manage to start working on something on day 1 of the camp and you achieve it on day 3. Great when things come together!"
The Air Awareness Camp showcased how modern surf technology can foster world-class talent and enable targeted progression like never before.
