Surf rules

Know your level

Always choose your surf session according to your ability. If your ability does not meet the requirements of the surf session, you are putting yourself and others in danger and disrupting the smooth running of the surf session.

Take part in the safety briefing

Attend the mandatory safety briefing carefully before your surf session and follow all information and instructions from the surf coaches and lifeguards.

Check your equipment

Check your surf equipment carefully for function and safety. Make sure that your equipment poses no danger to you or others. Always wear a leash in the wave pool.

Surf only in your zone

During your surf session, only surf in the zone assigned to you and do not change sides. Inform your surf coach if you want to leave the wave pool during your surf session.

Wait for your wave

Be patient, wait for your wave and get back into the lineup properly after your surfed wave. Only one person at a time is allowed to surf a wave at the peak. Keep enough distance from others, especially in the beginner zone.

Be considerate of others

Make sure at all times that you are not a danger to others. If you violate the rules of conduct or put others or yourself in danger, our surf coaches and lifeguards may exclude you from the surf session.

Respect the freedom of others

After a fall, clear the way for the next person as quickly as possible. Paddle across the designated paths and never obstruct the route of others. Paddle or ride in a wide arc around others. Give up your right of way and wave if you do not have a clear path yourself.

Always keep your board with you

Always keep your surfboard close to you. Always try to keep your surfboard under control and don't throw it away carelessly. Swimming and diving without a surfboard or bodyboard is prohibited.

Always fall flat

Never jump from your surfboard into the water with your feet or head first. Always try to get off your surfboard in a controlled manner. If you fall, fall backwards as flat as possible.

Protect your head

Always protect your head with your arms when falling and under water. Pay particular attention to protecting your head when surfing and to the dangers posed by your surfboard or other surfers.

Safety at O2 SURFTOWN MUC

Safety First

Safety is a top priority at O2 SURFTOWN MUC. As with any action or water sport, not all risks can be completely excluded, but we do everything we can to keep them as low as possible:

  • Lifeguards on Duty: All our surf sessions are supervised by professional and certified lifeguards. They are your permanent contacts for questions about safety and injuries. You will find them at our lifeguard towers in the immediate vicinity of the surf zones.
  • Trained surf coaches: All our surf coaches hold a valid lifeguard license and support our lifeguards in emergencies in the water. We carry out regular training and refresher courses on rescue techniques.
  • Safety concept: Our comprehensive safety concept ensures a high standard of safety and clear emergency procedures from minor injuries to the evacuation of the Wave Pool during storms.
  • Safety Briefings: In our safety briefings before each surf session you will receive all the information and rules of conduct to prevent accidents or injuries and to guarantee a smooth surf session.
  • Wave Operator: Our wave system is always controlled by a trained wave operator. This means that wave operation can be shut down immediately in an emergency. In our central wave operator tower, you have a complete view of the entire area.
  • Tested safe: Our Wave Pool, our water treatment system and our wave system meet all safety-related requirements and standards in coordination with the authorities and agencies. Regular inspections ensure consistent safety and water quality.
